Community Chest May Winner
1st June 2017
This May our Community Chest has supported Chelsea's Angels.
Chelsea's Angels was set up in memory
of Chelsea who was 3 when she lost her battle with Neuroblastoma, a childhood
cancer. The charity eases the heartache
and strain on a family when their child is fighting cancer and honour Chelsea's
last wish to help other children.
The charity creates smiles by giving
gifts, helps make precious memories by organising days out and small breaks,
plus supports families with household bills, grants for travel & parking at
the hospital and funds towards childcare.
Michelle Tomkins, Charity Co-Founder at
Chelsea’s Angels, said “We're extremely pleased to receive the funds that the
Swansgate Centre have donated. To know that people went out of their way to
nominate us means so much. It means people believe in what we do and to have
that support is lovely. We have eight referrals from Clic Sargent at the moment
which means using over £2000 of our funds, so this donation will go towards
creating much needed smiles, making precious memories and offering support to
eight children who are at the moment fighting against cancer.”
Each month, one community cause, club or charity will be selected to receive £100 from Swansgate. So whether you're fundraising for a particular event or mission or would like some extra cash for your local club, make your nomination!
To nominate, fill out a card and post in the entry box by the Community Noticebox (in between Wilko & Home Bargains). You can nominate until the end of each month, where one nomination will be chosen to receive £100. The chosen cause will be announced on our website here and on our Facebook page at the beginning of the next month.
