Community Chest September Winner

We are delighted to award September's Community Chest fund to Friends of Wellingborough Library.

Friends of Wellingborough Library were formed in 2014 to raise funds to provide extra items and activities for the library customers, and to support and promote the library and its services.  So far, they have provided an A-frame advertising board and other equipment, funded the Young People's Art Project, and most recently, paid for Steve the Magician to entertain the children at their Reading Challenge Party in September.

Nadia Johnson, Publicity Office at Friends of Wellingborough Library, said “Friends of Wellingborough Library are delighted to be selected to receive the £100 award from the Community Chest.  We would like to say a big and grateful thank you to Swansgate Centre Community Chest for their help. The money will be used to purchase dementia puzzles for loan out from Wellingborough Library to people with dementia and their relatives and carers.  These puzzles will provide stimulating activities and a conversation point to help people during difficult times.”

Each month, one community cause, club or charity will be selected to receive £100 from Swansgate. So whether you're fundraising for a particular event or mission or would like some extra cash for your local club, make your nomination!

To nominate, fill out a card and post in the entry box by the Community Noticebox (in between Wilko & Home Bargains). You can nominate until the end of each month, where one nomination will be chosen to receive £100. The chosen cause will be announced on our website here and on our Facebook page at the beginning of the next month.
