The Chester House Estate

Whatever your interest there will be something at The Chester House Estate for you to explore and enjoy. Here is a taste of what they will have on offer:

Outdoor Play Area
Completely free to access Outdoor Children’s play area, including swings, a slide, a natural climbing frame. You don’t need to pay to access or park to go to the Play Area.

Museum
As well as being the site of a Roman walled town, there is evidence from the Mesolithic, Iron Age and Medieval periods, together with a complex of traditional farm buildings dating back to the 17th century. At present much of this heritage is buried; our challenge is to bring it to life and tell its stories. There is an exciting museum including a large indoor museum within our learning and community building.

Walks
Local walks run through the Chester House Estate making it a great place to explore. There is a walking leaflet you can pick up on your arrival to site, so be sure to explore the entire 85 acres!

Mooring
Working with The Nenescape Landscape Partnership Scheme the Environment Agency have installed a new mooring platform at The Chester House estate, which enables people to access the site via the river Nene. This unique resource adds a very special dimension to the site.

Farmhouse Apartment
Located within the Farm House, the two bedroom Apartment comes with stunning views of the River Nene and wider estate landscape. The apartment includes a large living room space, kitchen and dining room, 2 bathrooms and an option for a freshly cooked farmhouse breakfast. Events and Programming
There are events and programming throughout the year. The 2022 programme included, Lambing Festival, Pumpkin Patch, Easter Egg Hunts, Historical Reenactments, Outdoor Cinema and Theatres, Food and Craft Fair’s. Winter Ice Skating Rinks, Beer and Music Festivals, Light Festivals, Father Christmas Experiences, Archeological Digs, The Nene Festival, Wedding Fair, Bushcraft Weekend and Private Hire Events.

The Chester House Estate is now open to the public 10am – 4pm everyday and only a short drive away from Swansgate Shopping Centre – why not make a day of it!
