We’ve partnered with the Daylight Centre Fellowship to help sponsor a Christmas Meal for people experiencing homelessness. Every meal sponsored provides not just food, but a moment of hope and community during the festive season.

This Christmas, Swansgate Shopping Centre is proud to partner with the Daylight Centre to launch the “Sponsor a Meal” initiative, a campaign that invites our community to come together and make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
The festive season is a time of warmth, comfort, and togetherness, yet for many members of our local homeless community, it can be one of the hardest times of the year. As temperatures drop and celebrations begin, too many people face Christmas without the comfort of a hot meal or the reassurance that their community cares.
Swansgate Shopping Centre is calling on local residents, families, businesses, and shoppers to help change that.
Through the Sponsor a Meal initiative, members of the public are encouraged to donate the cost of a Christmas meal for someone in need. Every contribution, no matter the size, goes directly to the Daylight Centre to provide warm, nourishing meals to individuals in our community who would otherwise go without.
“Christmas should be a time of hope,” said Fiona Stevens, Marketing and Tenant Liaison Coordinator at Swansgate Shopping Centre. “By sponsoring a meal, you’re not just providing food, you’re offering dignity, warmth, and a reminder that no one in our community is forgotten.”
In addition to sponsoring a meal, Swansgate Shopping Centre is also accepting practical donations to further support the Daylight Centre’s vital work. Shoppers can drop off contributions at the Donation Bauble, located within the centre. The Daylight Centre particularly welcomes items such as:
Hats, gloves, scarfs, Christmas socks, sleeping bags, deodorant sets, lip balm or lotion sets, nail clippers or comb sets, grooming sets, small puzzles or books, Christmas chocolates, and sweets. These thoughtful gifts help ensure comfort and joy reach those who need it most during the festive season.
The Daylight Centre has long been a lifeline for vulnerable people across the area, offering support, compassion, and essential services throughout the year. This initiative helps extend that vital work at a time when it is needed most.
